Staff Take On Three-Month Challenge To Raise Awareness For Epilepsy
Staff in the Sport and Public Services Department are taking on a three-month alcohol-free to raise awareness of epilepsy and raise funds in support of student Harvey, a full-time Sports Coaching and Development student, following his recent diagnosis.
Inspired by Harvey’s resilience and determination, the team has launched the initiative as a show of solidarity while also promoting the positive health and wellbeing benefits of limiting alcohol consumption.
The challenge highlights how small lifestyle changes can support improved physical health, mental wellbeing, focus and energy while also encouraging wider conversations around healthy habits and epilepsy awareness.
As a department built on discipline, teamwork and perseverance, staff saw the challenge as an opportunity to turn those values into action and make a positive difference.
Andrew Leech, Sports and Public Services Second in Department, said: “This challenge reflects the values we promote every day – discipline, resilience and supporting others – and is our way of standing alongside our student whilst raising funds to help them. We’re aiming to raise as much as possible and provide meaningful support and make a positive difference.”
The fundraiser also shines a light on the power of community, with staff coming together to support a student and raise awareness for an important cause.
We’re proud of the Sport and Public Services team for turning support into action and wish them every success in their fundraising efforts.
