Politics Students Take Part in House of Lords Webinar
Our A1 Politics students recently joined a live webinar with the House of Lords, where they met Baroness Harris of Richmond. During the webinar, students learned more about how Parliament works, with a particular focus on the role and purpose of the House of Lords.
Students were given the opportunity to ask questions, covering topics such as reform of the House of Lords, the role of hereditary peers, how legislation is improved through Lords scrutiny, and the routes available for ordinary people who aspire to become members. They also raised questions about representation within the House of Lords and shared views on current issues, including the proposal to ban social media for under-16s.
Students described the webinar as insightful and engaging, and valued the opportunity to hear directly from Baroness Harris, who they described as “down to earth” and “honest.”
