Ashton Sixth Form College Careers Advisors Spark Ambition at Broadbent Fold Primary School Careers Fair
Ashton Sixth Form College’s Careers Advisors recently attended Broadbent Fold Primary School’s careers fair, an event filled with inspiration, curiosity, and the spirit of discovery. The collaboration brought together local employers and organisations, aiming to ignite young minds and encourage them to explore the endless possibilities for their futures.
Deborah and Lindsey, Careers Advisors from Ashton Sixth Form College, had an enriching day engaging with Broadbent Fold’s enthusiastic pupils. They shared their personal journeys from education to their current roles, offering insights into diverse career paths. The students, brimming with ambition, posed thoughtful and imaginative questions about the world of work, creating a lively and interactive atmosphere.
One student perfectly captured the spirit of the day:
“I want to be an illustrator or an astronaut. I believe I can do this and will work hard to achieve this. I will learn from everyone around me and learn skills until one day I am working in space, drawing a cartoon sketch of Earth for my book.”
Deborah and Lindsey were full of praise for the event, commending the school for its warm welcome and the meticulous planning that made the day so impactful.
“The atmosphere was tingling with young ambition – we absolutely loved it!” said Deborah. “It was a pleasure to be part of such an inspiring event – thank you for having us.”
Catherine Parker, Headteacher of Broadbent Fold Primary School, emphasised the importance of preparing young pupils for a bright future:
“My aim is to ensure the ethos and curriculum of our school is getting our pupils ready for careers within and beyond our community. Start Small Dream Big is a motto we use daily in our classrooms. Local employers linked with us from Ashton Sixth Form College, GMP, Mental Health Services and Dental Teams to inspire our pupils. I have girls as young as 5 wanting to work in science. We will continue building belief in our pupils, so they believe they are capable of going to college and university.”
Ashton Sixth Form College, part of Stamford Park Trust, is proud to support initiatives like this, which lay the foundation for ambition and achievement in young people. The event exemplifies Stamford Park Trust’s vision of ‘excellence and ambition for all,’ reflecting their steadfast commitment to providing opportunities that inspire and empower the young people of Tameside. Events such as these not only spark curiosity but also ensure that every child can envision a bright future and take confident steps toward realising their dreams.
