Celebrating International Womens Day and National Careers Week!
For the second year running, Stamford Park Trust was proud to host the Empower Futures International Women’s Day event in conjunction with National Careers Week.
Students from Ashton Sixth Form College, alongside students from Rayner Stephens, Longdendale and Fairfield High School for Girls, came together for the event to hear from a range of inspiring women and take part in themed activities celebrating women’s achievements.
The event featured a fantastic line-up of guest speakers, including Reyana Page, a Managing Consultant in the cyber security sector, Mel Burgin, a professional referee who works with FIFA, Katherine Conroy, a University of Cambridge graduate and current ENT Consultant and Lucia Albanese, part of the pastoral team at Fairfield, and founder of EmpowerHER, an organisation focused on helping young women find their inner empowerment.
These incredible speakers shared their professional journeys, challenges, and successes, providing invaluable insights and practical advice. Their stories offered students an honest look at the different paths a career can take, while encouraging them to think confidently about their own futures. Students also had the opportunity to ask questions, opening up wider discussions about careers and the experiences of women in different industries.
Alongside the talks, students took part in a variety of activities, including exploring influential women – from the women who inspire them in their everyday lives to those who have made a lasting impact on the world, ran by Sheridan Lewis, Assistant Principal at Ashton.
The event was a fantastic opportunity for students across the Trust to come together, celebrate International Women’s Day and National Careers Week, and feel inspired about the many possibilities open to them in the future.
A huge thank you to all our guest speakers!
