Year 10 MDV XL Conference
Last week, we welcomed Year 10 students from local high schools to Ashton Sixth Form College for an XL Conference focused on Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Science (MDV).
The day gave students a chance to explore what studying and applying for medical pathways is really like, through a series of interactive sessions designed to stretch their thinking beyond the GCSE curriculum. Head of The XL Academy, Rob, delivered a session focusing on the MDV application process. Students also took part in a practical activity that introduced them to the Multiple Mini Interview (MMI) format.
Throughout the conference, students explored how science and psychology link directly to medicine, helping them understand how classroom learning can translate into real-world healthcare. The sessions encouraged curiosity, discussion and confidence, giving students a clearer picture of what these pathways involve.
It was a great opportunity for students to challenge themselves, experience new subjects, and find out more about the opportunities available through our XL Academy. We look forward to welcoming more Year 10 students to future XL Conferences later this year.
