Second Year Student Wins Prestigious ACT Musical Theatre Award
Ashton Sixth Form College is celebrating the success of second-year student Amy, who has won the Association of Community Theatre (ACT) Award for Most Original Cameo Role – Musical Theatre.
Amy received the award for her outstanding performance as The Mistress in Evita, produced by Romiley Operatic Society and performed from 25–29 March 2025. She was initially thrilled just to be nominated but on Saturday evening, she discovered she had won.
Reflecting on the achievement, Amy said:
“I still feel shocked but over the moon with what I have achieved. I find Drama at college very enjoyable. I’ve made close friends as well as growing in confidence by learning new skills to help my performance.”
Amy’s dedication, talent and passion for theatre have shone throughout her time at Ashton, both in her academic work and her involvement in productions beyond college. This award recognises not only her performance skill but also her commitment to developing as an actor.
We are incredibly proud of Amy and look forward to seeing where her talent takes her next.
