Business Student Grows Successful Valeting Company
Current A2 student, Ellis Detheridge, is studying Business, Law, and Public Services at Ashton. Alongside his studies, he's making a name for himself as a young entrepreneur with his fast-growing mobile valeting and detailing business, DET Details.
Ellis made the big decision to leave his part-time job to focus fully on DET Details, and the move has clearly paid off. He now has hundreds of 5-star reviews, a loyal client base signed up to regular maintenance schemes, and recently hired two people, including his best friend, to help meet growing demand. Ellis works on 15–20 cars per week across Tameside, Oldham, and beyond, and the company’s success is consistently growing.
Ellis has also taken part in the newly launched enrichment programme, Be Your Own Boss, which supports aspiring entrepreneurs. Ellis says, “College has really supported me with marketing and information about being your own boss. I currently employ 2 people, and after college, I am confident I can make a full-time career from my business. It was reassuring to know that self-employment and entrepreneurship are taken seriously and encouraged by the college. Thank you!”
In addition to running his business, Ellis is dedicated to giving back to the community, supporting events like the Grotton charity fundraiser. He has also been shortlisted as a finalist in the Tameside Business Awards in the Young Entrepreneurship category - an exciting recognition of everything he’s achieved so far.
We’re excited to see Ellis’ continued success both at college and beyond!
