Ashton Sixth Form College Welcomes Angela Rayner MP

09 Jan 26

Today, we were delighted to welcome The Right Honourable, Angela Rayner MP, into college to meet with our A Level Politics students. As the MP for Ashton-under-Lyne since 2015, Angela returned to her roots to speak to students about her career and experience in politics.

During her visit, students had the opportunity to ask thoughtful questions, covering topics such as social mobility and current affairs. Angela spoke open and honestly, sharing with students about her personal journey and the realities of working in politics today.

Angela shared her experience of growing up in the local area and coming from a working-class background, and how this has shaped her beliefs and determination through her career. She highlighted the importance of resilience, education, and believing that opportunities in politics and life should be open to everyone, regardless of background.
The visit offered an inspiring and engaging experience, bringing students’ studies to life and giving them valuable first-hand insight into the world of politics.

Ashton Sixth Form College would like to thank Angela Rayner MP for taking the time to visit and for inspiring the next generation of young people.
