Our teacher training programmes are run in collaboration with the University of Staffordshire, The Associated Merseyside Partnership SCITT and Liverpool Hope University.

Our Courses:

Routes to Teaching & COURSE INFORMATION

The PGCE Primary (QTS), PGCE Primary SEND (QTS), and the Postgraduate Teaching Apprenticeship (Primary) are all full-time programmes that take one year to complete. During the course, you will attend sessions at Ashton Sixth Form College and complete two teaching placements at partner schools across the academic year.

The PGCE Post-16 and Certificate in Education Post-16 are part-time programmes. You will attend one lesson per week—either on Tuesday morning or Wednesday evening—and complete a placement within your specialist subject area over the two-year duration of the course. Depending on your subject specialism, it may be possible to complete your placement at our college. This option can be discussed further during your interview.

For the full entry requirements please visit the course pages above. If you are interested in working in education in a role other than teaching or wish to gain qualifications prior to the PGCE, please visit our full list of Higher and Adult Education courses here.
