Principal's Recognition Lunch March 2024

Centre Principal, Lisa Richards held the termly recognition lunch for nominated pupils this week. This term, curriculum and support areas were asked to nominate an A1 and A2 student who have stood out to them.

Jessica Bradley

"Jessica is one of our fabulous Tri - Art students studying Fine Art, Photography and Textiles. She is super creative, extremely hardworking and produces consistently exquisite and beautiful work seemingly effortlessly. We always see a lot of you working outside of lessons to keep up to date. Well done Jess, you are a star in the making."

Luke Saycell

"Luke has been exceptional this year. He has tackled Transportation Design as his major project. This is by far the hardest design subjects to master and I’m sure Luke has some trauma from his early lessons of using Blender to design cars. You stuck with it, even when it got difficult. I’m very impressed and proud of your progress – well done, Luke."

He works very well in lessons and his mock exam score is a marked improvement on his grades from last year despite the fact that the content is naturally also getting more difficult. She is always eager to help and assist technicians with live sound including helping set up the band for the awards evening, and is always practicing and working in and around the Performing Arts Department to reach her best potential."

"Alvin has been nominated by his GCSE English Language teachers Karen and Steve. He has worked consistently hard towards improving his grade in this essential qualification. He retained a positive can-do attitude to his learning throughout, increasing his results at each attempt until this November, where he successfully achieved the pass grade with flying colours! We are immensely proud of Alvin's achievement, he has become a role model to others and we wish him every success in his continuing studies - well done Alvin!"

Her essays are always very impressive and her recent coursework on “Little Women” and “Pride and Prejudice” was an absolute pleasure to read. She is completely dedicated to every aspect of her English studies. Chantelle is also an integral member of the Writers' Hub team. She is always willing to share her ideas and writing with the group. Ella has acted as a mentor this year in the build-up to the December mock for another student who was struggling to increase her grade. "Freddie is an enthusiastic student who has made the most of what Ashton Explore has on offer up to now. He has successfully completed the 6 week beginner sign language course and attended the Phil Mealey talk and workshop allowing him to delve deeper into the media world and learn from professionals in the industry. Freddie was incredibly engaged in the Sign Language course, asking questions and getting involved. Now, Freddie has signed up to the Studio Photography course to further broaden his skills. Well done for getting involved in Ashton Explore and developing your knowledge further!"
