Geographers get into OxBridge!

19 August 2022

Rory Tyler, Sam Seaborn and James Poff all had offers to study Geography at either Oxford or Cambridge University.

Each of the students have received the grades they needed and have all accepted their offers!

Rory, from West Hill School, achieved A*A*A* and will be going to the University of Oxford, Hertford College.

James, from St Thomas More, achieved A*AA and will also be going to the University of Oxford, Regent's Park College.

Sam, also from St Thomas More, achieved A*A*A along with an A* in the EPQ, and will be going to the University of Cambridge, Fitzwilliam College.

These students have achieved incredible results. Their teacher, Matthew Periss said:

"A place at Oxbridge to study as an undergraduate is deeply coveted. Competition is fierce and considered the acme of global academic attainment. To have three of our sixty A level students go up to both Oxford and Cambridge this Michaelmas Term is testament to an enormous talent within our community and a clarion call to other gifted geographers in East Manchester. The hallowed portals of Oxford and Cambridge are within your grasp, with hard work and dedication the finest seats of learning in the World are a genuine option for you too. With Rory, James and Adam joining ASFC alumni from their proceeding years we now have a beaten path to this academic zenith.

I wish this years trio my very best in their chosen Colleges and I intend for them to be joined by more of their fellow ASFC students in the future. Bravo! Unleash your considerable intellect upon the Dreaming Spires!"

Well done to Rory, Sam and James, we wish them the best of luck for their future.
