Art students join the SFCA Art Exhibition 2021

30 June 2021

Art and Design students from Ashton Sixth Form College join the Sixth Form Colleges Asssociation Art Exhibition 2021: Fake News.

The exhibition will once again take place online and students from the college have had the opportunity to exhibit their work. The exhibition is national featuring works of art from students across the country. The theme this year is 'Fake News' allowing young artists to interpret the theme and reflect "on how hard it can be to distinguish fact from fiction", a topic that has been a focus for many in recent months.

Five students from Ashton were selected to join the exhibition showing their unique understanding and interpretation of the brief including Ben, Catalin, Jess, Katie and Maddie.

The SFCA states,

"It is imperative that we keep the arts in education secure and flourishing. If young people are to make a truly valuable contribution to society, even if they are to be successful scientists, engineers, doctors and technicians, they need to develop their creative skills, their artistic sensitivities and their ability to interact with others."
