Dance jazz workshop with Stacey Maurice

15 June 2018

A-Level Dance students were visited by Stacey Maurice, Freelance Dancer/Choreographer and Artistic Director/Co-Founder of Torque Youth Dance Company.

Throughout the A-Level course, the Performing Arts department regularly welcome guest speakers, visiting choreographers and industry experts. Students benefit from a broad range of teaching styles and expertise.

Stacey ran a Jazz workshop with the students, focusing on different techniques, exploring how other styles of dance can influence their performance. It was an opportunity for some students to step out of their comfort zone and refine their skills.

Students were able to ask questions and learn more about Stacey's outlook on the dance industry and her performance style.

This workshop marks the beginning of many guest workshops across the next few weeks.

Dance at Ashton Sixth Form College consistently achieves some of the highest results in the country. Last year, A-Level Dance students achieved 100 pass rate overall, with outstanding progression.
