Ashton Talks: Chanje Kunda visits on behalf of Equality and Diversity

20 October 2016

Despite her busy schedule, Chanje took the time to visit our students here at Ashton Sixth Form College. We also streamed part of the event LIVE on Facebook.

She is currently touring "Amsterdam," an ambitious full length show fusing theatre, spoken word, music and movement into the high powered, super-modern 21st century play of love and lust. It toured South Africa in 2016, being featured on the main programme at The National Arts Festival in Grahamstown and the 969 Festival in Johannesburg. This play was nominated for Best Studio Production.

In a small session, our students were able to hear Chanje's poetry, understanding the different career paths open to them, and find out what inspires her work. Students from Equality and Diversity, as well as the English Department, could get involved in a Q&A session about Chanje's work, her experiences, and gain valuable advice about their own poetry ventures.

This event was organised by Roxean Reid.
