World Book Day – Author Visit

7 March 2013

Tim Keogh, author, Manchester City fan and teacher of French at a local High School St Damian’s R.C College, visited the college today as part of our World Book Day Celebrations.

Tim has written a book called ‘ Nothing But Blue Skies’, which documents his childhood, the local area in the 60’s and 70s and his support for Manchester City from an early age. Students had the opportunity to listen to how Tim was inspired to write the book and how he went on to self publish the title.

As part of our recognition of World Book Day staff have also been writing reviews of their favourite books to share with students.

World Book Day is all about celebrating reading and sending out a positive message about engaging with books to our students, and with recent news that teenagers are choosing ‘easier’ reads, any encouragement we can give could make a difference. www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-21687156
