Coronavirus response update 4th June 2020

I hope this finds you and your family well.

Not many updates today:

In preparation for the introduction of live teaching and learning sessions soon, your sons and daughters have been sent an online learning agreement. The document outlines the online etiquette and dos and don’ts for working with their teacher in this format. By participating in the online teaching sessions, students are automatically agreeing to abide by these rules. Failure to do so may lead to disciplinary action and could affect progression to the second year. We hope that these rules will ensure that all participants benefit from and enjoy the online teaching sessions. It might be useful to read the document to familiarise yourself with the rules and them discuss them with your sons or daughters. Thank you in advance for your support in this matter.

Our Board met yesterday to assess the risk assessment for reopening the college and to confirm the date of reopening as the 15th June for staff and the 17th June for a small number of invited students. Contact with invited students will be made early next week. The Board were content with the quality and content of the risk assessment and were assured that the college is in the right place to reopen. There will be additions and amendments to this plan right up to reopening, and it will stay as a ‘live’ document throughout. I also met with Tameside Public Health this morning to identify best practice to make the site safe for all members of the college community. We will be sharing a document for parents and students soon to outline the procedures and the measures we have put in place to make the college campus safe for all members of our college community. Online teaching and learning has been working very well and it will remain out main method for the rest of this year.

That’s all for today.

Take care, look after yourself, your families and each other; be patient and stay positive.
