Coronavirus response update 30th April 2020

It was quite inspirational to watch to outpouring of good will towards Colonel Tom Moore on his 100th birthday today. In his quiet way, he has been a role model to all of us. Aiming to raise £1000 for the NHS, he has raised over £30 million for our healthcare service. This is a phenomenal achievement and certainly one of the good memories I will take from this time.

A few updates:

For your information, the last date for the payment of the bursary to eligible students will be Monday 29th June 2020 for all students. Eligible students received funding throughout the Easter holiday for both bursary and free college meals, and they will be paid through the May half term this year.

And finally, the National Careers Service is launching a Virtual Jobs Fair on Monday May 4th to promote local vacancies and support people to get back into work. The Virtual Jobs Fair will travel round different regions and give employers the chance to post current opportunities social media which the National Careers Service will promote on their channels during #JobsHour. Follow the social media channels @NationalCareers and @NationalCareersService to find out how to get involved. The date for the North West Virtual Fair is the 7th May at 11.00. Students can also request a careers interview with our fantastic careers team at any time. Please email the team on careers@asfc.ac.uk to arrange a virtual appointment.

That’s it for today

Take care, look after yourself, your families and each other; be patient and stay positive.

Anton
