Drama students see Dr Seuss' The Grinch

13 December 2019

A-Level Drama students went on a trip to The Lowry in Salford. They had the opportunity to see Dr Seuss' How The Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical.

The show is currently doing a Christmas run at the Lowry until 5th January.

The set, costumes and story line are all based on the well-known book written by Dr. Seuss, which was first published back in 1957. The story takes the audience to the magical town of Whoville in all of its whimsical and festive glory. The town takes a dark turn when The Grinch decides he is going to end Christmas for everyone.

Dr. Seuss' well-known story was also adapted for film in 2000 featuring Jim Carrey and 2018 featuring the voice of Benedict Cumberbatch. Students were able to see how such a huge story line can be adapted for live theatre, capturing the imagination of a varied audience who may know the story in a range of lights.
