Graphics student wins Christmas Card Design Competition

Graphic Design student Hollie Appleyard entered the Broad Canvas Christmas Tree Competition for 2019.

The competition hosted four different age categories and Hollie entered the 12-17 years category. She is currently studying Graphic Design, Film Studies and Drama at Ashton Sixth Form College and is in her first year. 

Hollie produced her Christmas card design using watercolours and titled her design 'Star of Wonder'. Her design features a small child looking up at a giant Christmas tree, complete with a golden star shining brightly on top.

After all of the designs were submitted, the competition was opened out to a public vote and Hollie won her category with 97 votes. 

As her prize for winning the competition, Hollie received a £50 voucher as well as 50 printed cards of her winning design. In addition, the winning entries also received a £50 voucher for their school/college allowing the Art and Design department at Ashton to purchase a range of art supplies.
