Maths workshop with Manchester University

28 February 2019

The University of Manchester were invited to Ashton Sixth Form College to deliver a range of topics to students who are currently studying A-Level Mathematics.

While studying their A-Level in Maths, students explore various units including Core, Mechanics and Statistics. The university visited Ashton to introduce the students to statistics as they begin studying the topic in class.

Rather than a lecture-style format the day took shape as a number of group sessions, allowing students to work together throughout the day. The university presented various models of real life situations in which statistics is used. Students were able to predict various data results and also understand which areas of statistics are used, dependent on the data presented.
