XL students visit Cambridge University

19 February 2018

XL students from Ashton Sixth Form College recently visited Cambridge University.

The Ashton XL programme is aimed at high achievers and works to stretch and challenge those students who want to progress on to competitive pathways.

Early on in the college academic year, students with an interest and aim to apply to study at either Oxford or Cambridge University, receive specialist support and a unique programme of opportunities. Students were able to explore Cambridge and the university campus, learning more about the institution and what it has to offer.

A significant number of Ashton Sixth Form College students progress on to study at Oxford and Cambridge institutions, outperforming in arguably one of the most competitive selection process in the world.

Students on the XL programme experience mock interviews and specialist tutorial systems, as well as master classes, shadowing schemes, pathways and insight days, road shows, consultancies and open days.

XL students at the college also have the option to complete the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) and explore a research project of their own choice, further improving their analytical, time management and written skills.

The Ashton XL programme works with students to ensure they stand out from the crowd and achieve beyond expectation.
