Over £1000 raised for Tameside Toy Appeal

13 December 2017

Over the past month, Education and Health students have been fundraising in aid of Tameside 4 Good's Tameside Christmas Toy Appeal.

The Tameside Christmas Toy Appeal wants all Tameside children living in poverty receive a toy this Christmas.

Students have raised over £1000 through sponsorship and a Heroes and Villains fancy dress charity day. With this money and further donations, the department have collected an incredible amount of toys for the charity. Toys included cuddly teddies, fun games, fluffy gloves and more, for a range of ages.

Representatives from the charity visited the college to collect the toys and thank the students for their hard work.

Each year, the Education and Health department choose a charity to help during the Christmas Fundraiser. Tameside 4 Good was the charity of choice because the department felt that the donations, "may well help the neighbours, friends and families of both current and future students." Education and Health students study full time Level 3 courses in Early Years Education, Health and Social Care or Level 2 Early Years and Care. During their course students complete work placements, working with children and the elderly across Tameside. Fundraising for Tameside charities is close to their hearts and is an incredible way to help those in need, locally.
