Visiting Artist Workshop in Fine Art

3 November 2017

Artist Ian Johns, visited Fine Art students at Ashton Sixth Form College last week. Students explored the skills required in oil painting and many embraced the challenge of trying something new.

Across the two-day workshop, Ian Johns spoke to students about his experiences as an artist. Throughout the day, students worked with oil paints to improve their skills, working with a medium they may never have worked with before. While working on their oil pieces, Ian offered invaluable advice and guidance on how to improve. He challenged the students to think differently about their approach to their work.

As a result, students became more expressive and experimental producing some incredible work they can be proud of. They can then take these skills to progress even further artistically, over the duration of their course.
