It's national #librariesweek!

12 October 2017

It's national #librariesweek and Ashton Sixth Form College is celebrating the incredible facilities on offer at the Library. In September of this year there were an astounding 17,942 recorded visits to the Library, situated in the Geoff Higgins building.

The college offers 3 learning centres, designed for students to work independently and collaboratively in both comfortable and innovative environments. With a total of 15,000 printed resources and 5,400 e-books, the opportunities to learn, work and revise are incredible.

Each of the Learning Centres are staffed with Learning Facilitators throughout the college day. Learning Facilitators are on hand to assist students and staff with any queries. As part of the new student welcome to the college, each student received an IT & Learning Resource Induction to assist them throughout their studies. In addition to this, 40 library inductions and study skills sessions were delivered this September.

As part of the library facilities, students have access to a wide range of technology. These include laptop hire and desktop computers, along with a range of stand-up research and look-up computers too. In September, there were 9,760 PC sessions.

Learning Resources assist students during their time at the college. By providing facilities both digital and print, along with help desks and advice, studying and learning is made a little easier and more accessible.
