Fashion & Textiles Student wins London Fashion Week Prize

Ashton Sixth Form College student Sarah Kilkenny scooped the prize for Best Research category at the recent Fashion Awareness Direct Junior Awards.

Sarah has been involved with the F.A.D. ‘Fashion Futures 2’ event since February 2010 when she was encouraged by her Fashion and Textiles teacher Michaela Harrison to enter the competition. It has been a long journey for Sarah, with several visits to London, including an initial research visit to the Victoria & Albert Museum, a three day design and development course at Salford University, a week-long manufacturing course at the University of East London and culminating in the final fashion show at London’s Freemason s Hall. Sarah received a prize and a certificate for Best Research category.
