This course gives you the foundation of knowledge to progress in a forensic career. Placements within the field prepare you with skills in laboratory techniques, evidence, collection and analysis, and investigative skills.

Studying in the Science department will give you access to state of the art scientific laboratories, specialist equipment and an experienced technical team, to help you to achieve and explore the scientific world.

Applied science (Forensic) is an extended diploma teaching both practical skills and scientific knowledge across Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Forensic Science. You will apply your knowledge of science in crime, investigation and analytics.

Biology

Topic areas include cells and Microscopy, Diseases and Infections, Physiology of Human Body Systems; Physiology of Human Regulation and Reproduction.

Chemistry

Topic areas include Practical Chemical Analysis; Applications of inorganic and organic chemistry.

Physics

Topic areas include Energy; waves in communication; Medical Physics; Thermal physics, materials and fluid. 

Forensics topic areas include Forensic evidence, collection and analysis.
