At Ashton Sixth Form College we focus on looking after every individual to help them achieve success. We recognise that students require extra support beyond classroom teaching and we offer this in a variety of ways.
Services
ADDITIONAL LEARNING SUPPORT
The College is able to provide support for you if you have any additional needs. This support often begins before you enrol with us, and will always be available throughout your time with us.
We welcome students with learning difficulties and disabilities, and our fully accessible learning environment enables all students to be included in college life. When you apply to college it is important that you let us know about your specific needs. By sharing this information we are able to plan and prepare you for college. Examples of the learning support available include:
• learning support assistants
• adaptive aids and equipment
• dyslexia assessments and specialist support
• additional study support on a regular or drop-in basis
• special arrangements in exams.
Skill and study support
Some students need extra help with English, maths or I.T., and others need subject support or help with study skills. Before the start of the course every student has an assessment in English and maths to see if these skills need to be developed. All students can access extra help in the Additional Learning Centre via drop-in sessions or regular booked sessions for an agreed number of weeks.
