Green and Environmental Society
Do you have a passion for caring for and protecting the natural environment? Are you interested in global issues and the ways in which you can become involved in saving the environment in and out of college? Within this group you will have the chance to discuss and promote 'green issues' such as Fairtrade, recycling, grow your own and conservation.
Charity and Fundraising Society
Are you interested in fundraising and charity work? Would you like to give back to your local community and support national charities? If so, the Charity and Fundraising Society is for you. We plan fundraising events such as Bake Sales, Fun Runs, Children in Need and Red nose Day and set up events to help raise awareness of charities such as the Anthony Nolan Trust, Ugandaid, Macmillan etc.
Dungeons and Dragons Society
Dungeons and Dragons is all about storytelling, the people joining cane create iconic characters in the first session, and from then on they can be developed as they fight together through impossible odds.
Japanese Cultures and Languages
Konichi wa! If you are interested in everything and anything Japanese - anime, manga, film, food or whatever then this is for you! We'll learn japanese vocabulary, try out our calligraphic abilities, engage in Japanese conversation and watch J-Pop videos. K-Pop fans also welcome!
Equality and LGBT Society
Keen to share ideas and opinions on enhancing equality and diversity? You'll work with us to help maintain and improve opportunities at the College. By using your knowledge, skills and creativity to deliver awareness to your peers of the issues faced by lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people can be very powerful indeed!
Play an instrument? Want to be in the College Band and have the opportunity to play at college events? This is for you! Rehearsals will be Mondays and Fridays at 12pm in the Performing Arts Theatre.
Technical Theatre Society
Do you want to learn the technical art of thetare? This will include lighting design and rigging, sound design and engineering, stage hand, stage management, working at heights. Once you learn the basics there will be ample opportunties to gain experience and help behind the scenes during college productions.
Knitting and Crochet Society (WARM Project for India and Nepal)
Crochet and Knit Granny Squares for India and Nepal. The winter of 2014 was so cold in Delhi. Temperatures dropped and many were without any way of keeping warm apart from a fire and all the clothes they owned. In 2015 we will supply blankets to those who need them. Use your cut offs and waste wool to potentially save a life.
Interetsed in political and social issues? Want to improve your communication and advocacy skills? If so, joing our debating society and you will develop these skills and others whilst having the chance to enter into national debating competions.
Ashton Vocal Group
Come and join the vocal group! We will sing a variety of different styles ranging from Glee, Gospel and Contemporary songs and perform in college and community events.
Year 1 Psychology Society
The Year 1 Psychology Society is an opportunity for students who are interested in psychology to get involved in activities beyond the exam specification. We will run for four weeks and it would be a fantatsic addition to any university or job applictaion.
