Most people applying to be a private candidates are friendly and polite. On very rare occasions, we encounter people (in person or on the telephone) who fall short of accepted standards. All applicants should be aware that no centre is obliged to accept private candidates and that examination boards will not intervene if a centre refuses an application. As with all other examination centres, we reserve the right to refuse any application. We are not obliged to give a reason. Our decision to accept or decline applications is final and non-negotiable.
What happens next?
Once we receive your application and fees, we will enter you for your exams. We will acknowledge your application within as soon as possible. Once entries are made in February, we will send to you a statement of entry confirming the exams you are entered for. Approximately 6 weeks before your exam, you will receive a personal exam timetable. This confirms the dates and start times of your examination, along with the exam venue and seat number. Then it’s up to you to show up for them!
Please be aware the awarding bodies (AQA, Pearson, OCR and WJEC) are responsible for scheduling examinations. The college is not able to alter the date or time of examinations to suit individual needs.
You can check date and times of your exams by visiting the relevant exam board website and searching for 'timetables'. Further information can be found at www.aqa.org.uk, www.edexcel.com, www.ocr.org.uk or www.wjec.co.uk
